Block Time Expression Project

As a choreographer, the concept of time and space has drawn my deep attention for long time. After I started to create dance works integrated with interactive media, I developed a keen interest on Einstein's philosophy of "Spacetime". "Spacetime" is a basic but important area in the world of physics. In artistic creation, space and time reflects different cultural and social references.

This presentation will particularly examine the artistic potential of interactive dance performance in bridging the scientific and cultural arena in explaining spacetime. The presentation aims to simulate discussion on simultaneity, synchronization and intervals. An additional exploration on the 4D View will also be carried out, which the concept of an entity as a four-dimensional "space-time worms" contains different temporal segments.

The implementation will embrace pieces of interactive dance poems interfacing digital visual and audio media, which will be interwoven in time and space when presenting my academic paper, "subjectivity on time and space in modern metropolitan culture". I will be performing in the dance sessions as well as delivering speech during the presentation. This would make the subject matter a live event of its own.
