Robert Saucier and KIT (Montreal/London)
Using 3D figures of bugs and Trojan horses to represent computer viruses, the artists turn the gallery into an interactive game space. Movement of the visitors influences the movement of the bugs and horses but so too does user input from the project website. As the visitor tries to interact with the system in order to access hidden information, questions of control, coordination, and location are raised through the installation.
Robert Saucier is a Montreal-based robotics artist who teaches sculpture at the University of Quebec in Montreal. His work has been exhibited in Canada, Ireland, Britian, and France and include a series of seven commissioned sculptures for the Quebec Ministry of Culture's Integration of Art to Architecture program.
KIT is an artistic collaboration involved in the production of performances, exhibitions, bookworks, and film, video and CD Rom projects. KIT's projects have been presented in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Britain, Austria, Australia, Netherlands, Ireland and New Zealand.
