About Us

Established in 1998, Subtle Technologies is a registered not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to blurring the boundaries between art and science.

Subtle Technologies' mandate is to build bridges between - and amongst - the arts and sciences. It brings together people and ideas normally confined to separate realms and disciplines, deliberately exposing them - and their audiences - to one another.

Every May we present the Subtle Technologies festival, a multidisciplinary event where artists and scientists come together to discuss, demonstrate and exhibit their work. Subtle Technologies challenges specialists, including physicists, geneticists, engineers, mathematicians, astronomers, film-makers, architects, dancers, painters and musicians to contemplate the discreet ways art and science act upon one another and reshape our perspectives.

The success of Subtle Technologies is due in large part to our committed volunteers and the many presenters and audience members who participate each year.
