U. Marks - Biography
Laura
U. Marks is a theorist and programmer of experimental media.
She is the author of The Skin of the Film: Intercultural
Cinema, Embodiment, and the Senses (Duke, 2000). Her new
book, Touch: Sensuous Theory and Multisensory Media
(Minnesota, fall 2002), develops a sensuous and materialist
understanding of media and the world, with special attention
to olfactory and digital media. Currently she is researching
Arab and African mathematics for
alternative models of digital culture. She is Associate Professor
of Film Studies at Carleton University.
